Oil painting 2
<index_> new painting in 2005, page 2, second half-year. --

Oil painting continued. Most of these images can be seen discussed individually in my blog. Here is a quick sequence of thumbnail pictures that link to a gallery in Photobucket.

the picture above started as a glimpse of someone wearing a shirt that was back-light by strong sunlight. The material became slightly translucent and formed an outline around them. the other elements- the feathers are from something else that passed through my mind at the time, just for fun.

this comes from an image glimpsed while on a bus in Tokyo. Sometimes you look at something and get an incomplete picture of what is happening which is rather more amuzing than the reality.

Pilot in oil
Painting for Laurie. This dates back to June, but I was keeping it secret to keep the element of surprise. The figure is painted with linseed oil layers but the background including the Hurricane plane is left in turpentine layers. This I think give sit a slightly more watercolour effect and hopefully keeps it in the background.
Sharpener- n1 This and the next image are both oil on canvas, but I felt a strong urge to re-work this one - resulting in the one shown below-left. The face underwent a number of changes, repplacing a double-shin with a much longer and bigger face. Still, it's an interesting experiment with a square canvas.
Sharpener n2 This is the repeat picture because I felt that the composition should be closer to the origional drawing. Note that the colour balance is not entirely right here- it looks a bit blue.
