FPS, but with team management. The game is set on D-Day(June 6th, 1944) into the next few days. You play the rôle of a paratrooper and take command of a small troop of others. The teamwork is reasonably easy to manage, especially with fairly simple commands- mostly with the mouse.
The atmosphere is thoughtfully done, colours muted, and stuff like rain, mud and sounds add to the mood. the whole style is quite cinematographic.

Despite that, it does have a number of annoyances:
* It feels rather boxed in, towns have few routes that you can go down
*You can jump, but not over anything, not even small logs.
*All buildings in France appear to have locked doors
* there are ladders but you can't climb any
*They all have bullet-proof glass that is not transparent
*Hedges are bullet-proof
*High velocity bullets can be stopped by one hedge leaf
*Levels load slowly
*There is little of the physics/dynamics you get in Far Cry (and this is a more recent game).

Despite my misgivings gleaned from the lack of eyecandy, and some glitches in the gameplay- the squad management is where the fun lies. |
